Mortgage Rate Predictions for March 2025

The experts had previously projected four rate cuts for 2025.  Now that projection has been updated to only two rate cuts. 
 
The experts are saying “As the administration moves to cut waste and expenses from their balance sheet, that might be a favorable trigger to help lower rates.”
 
So for March 2025, there may not be a mortgage interest rate rise or drop.  Instead, mortgage rates are likely to stay roughly the same. 
 
The Fannie Mae Economic and Strategic Research (ESR) Group has a mortgage rate forecast of 6.5% for the end of 2025.
